About Julie

The purpose of Julie Originals
I created this blog to share my quest for getting off the computer when it comes to creating art. I’ve been a graphic designer for over 15 years and I started my own design business in 2005, 24-7 Creative Solutions. It has been rewarding and challenging, but I found myself not drawing and painting as much as I would like. That is why I am using the brand, Julie Originals, to encompass my hands on projects. My goal for this blog is to post about creative projects and to include a lot of “How To” information.

I wanted to be an artist..
I was one of those little kids who knew from the beginning I wanted to be an artist. I think during my senior year of high school I scheduled art class for 6 out of the 9 periods in the day! It was in my Advertising & Design class that I knew I wanted to be a graphic designer! I loved coming up with a concept and producing it from start to finish.
I chose Drexel University in Philadelphia for my Bachelor’s in Graphic Design. After graduating I was an in-house designer for three years. After I moved to Tucson, I was an Art Director for a few more years. After graduating with a Master’s in Business, I took a leap and actually started my own business. It was scary, but I am so thankful I did that. Here’s my LinkedIn profile

My Rock and Roll Family
Besides art – we are passionate about music! I play drums in the HypnoGogs with my husband Jon. He is not only a fantastic musician he’s also a motion graphics artist. Here’s a nerdy video that Jon animated of The HypnoGogs at Hotel Monte Vista!

We have a son, Syver, who is turning out to be a little rock star himself! He plays the keyboard, ukelele, harmonica and Mommy’s drums. I wrote and illustrated “Syver’s 1st Rockstar Year” for his first birthday.

To round out the family we have two cats, Ghetti and Levi. They were our babies, until of course, Syver was born. It’s funny how that changes 😉 Our cats aren’t necessarily musical, but that are into the arts…They starred in our parody of Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures, “Feline Ghost Adventures”.

Thanks for reading!
I am so happy to be a part of a wonderful blog community filled with so many creative people. Hope to talk to you soon.
